Volunteer

Volunteers make a difference! At the Waterbury Senior Center, we have only three staff members. The majority of the work done is by volunteers. We couldn’t exist without them! Join our team and be part of something great. We need your help to offer great programs and events, and you can gain valuable experience and give back to the community.

Volunteer Opportunities

Position: Meals On Wheels Driver

A volunteer Meals on Wheels driver provides a nutritious warm meal to homebound individuals, while also providing daily, friendly check-in, as well as, act as a liaison between The Waterbury Area Senior Center and the homebound.

We deliver Meals on Wheels Monday through Friday to the Waterbury and greater Waterbury area. The time requirement is 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. Drivers can choose to drive one day a week, more than one day a week, or on a substitute basis.

Position: Kitchen

We prepare a hot nutritious meal Monday through Friday. Hot meals are either delivered via our Meals on Wheels home delivery program Monday through Friday or for in-house dining Monday, Wednesday and Friday at our center.

A kitchen volunteer would assist in the kitchen by helping with meal preparation, packing Meals on Wheels orders, preparing plates for in-house diners, cleaning-up, and washing dishes. The time requirement is 9:00 am to 1:00 pm, or whatever you can give. You can choose to volunteer one day a week or more than one day a week.

Position: Servers

We offer in-house dining at our center on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm. Volunteer hours are 11:00 am to 1:00 pm.

A volunteer server is responsible for serving lunch in a timely, pleasant manner and enjoys interacting with the diners. When the meal is done, a server is responsible for cleaning tables of all dishes and wiping the tables.
